Right Job, Wrong Time

There is definitely a time and a season for everything.

Lately I have been looking for something which would help me to feel fulfilled as an individual and like I contribute to the families income a little.

We don't need the money, but I have been feeling like a bit of a leech and a little drained artistically.

Something one day a week to help me get out of the house and feel balanced as a Mummy & an individual.

Today I got a phone call about a job as a school photographer, (perfect job for me) the job is part time (one maybe two days a week) but there is a catch.

Obviously the beginning of the year is a busy time for school photos (the ones you all order to see your kiddies grow through their years of schooling -- you know the ones with the ugly mottled grey backgrounds.)

This means there are 8 weeks at the beginning of the year when the job is full time (first term) because every school in Victoria wants their photo's taken in first term while the kiddies are still looking 'fresh'.

This means that Bastian would be second priority during these 8 weeks, the only way to facilitate this kind of work is to place him in day-care, he'll be about 10 months old.

Too young for day-care in my opinion. A year later and I might've taken the job because I think he would've been able to handle it at nearly two, but at the moment a job that makes me feel unfulfilled as a Mother but fulfilled as an individual is the "Right Job, Wrong Time".

I love being a Mother, I would not give it up for anything in the world - even one of my MOST favourite things to do could not keep me from my baby boy.

If anyone has a job like this, please let me know:

WANTED

One caring, loving, passionate mother who loves photography willing to work one day a week.
Please bring your baby to work, and your husband too if he has the day off.

(p.s: there was a job in the newspaper the other day for extras, perhaps Bastian could be a movie star?)

Big Boy Things.

Over the past two weeks Bastian has been trying on his big boy boots with some new tricks.

He has been trying some food. Surprisingly, even if he absolutely hated (shown by screwing his face up and twitching his eye after each mouthful ) the rice cereal, pureed banana and mashed pumpkin he still kept opening his mouth for more.

This week I decided I would give him a treat since I suspect (since letting him eat some of my chocolate bar) that he has been endowed with the Gibson sweet tooth.

Yesterday he had plain custard which he thought was pretty good, Today he had chocolate custard which he couldn't get enough of! He kept grabbing the spoon as if to say, " get it in Mum your going too slow ".

On wednesday of last week I was standing Bastian up in the bath for a second and he ended up doing a big boy standing wee before he got in, he looked at it with great fascination as if to say "..huh never seen that one before "

Bastian has also been rolling from his tummy to his back for a while now but is getting to be a real expert at reaching for things from his back and almost turning over the other way which means he might very well soon be a rolly pollying around the house.

He is also becoming quite a little man about what he likes and dislikes - squealing when something is taken off him, when he is excited, frustrated or even just plain bored.. so there is alot of squealing going on and alot of sore ears.

Bastians favourite big boy thing to do, however, is go to the pool for a swim. He loves the water so much and kicks and splashes happily and would (I think) stay all day if we let him.

Happy 5 Months baby boy, don't grow up too fast.

10 Reasons

--since I am having one of those days mentioned in reason 8 here are :
10
Reasons why Living in Geelong sucks...

1 (As highlighted in above picture) When one wants to go swimming in summer one must compete with 70, 000 other people for a spot by the pool.

2 there isn't a charcoal chicken, end.

3 Collette & Bec don't live in Geelong.

4 I share a room with my 5 month old son, so I can't use the computer or be in the room between 8 - 10 am, 11 - 2 pm, 4 - 5 pm and any time after 6.30pm till 7 am because he wakes up!
(Can't even sleep in my own room anymore.. sheesh)

5 the weather is worse than Tassie, oh...did you hear about the flash flooding at the waterfront?

6 When asked what annoys her the most from the ' Street Talk' section in the Geelong newspaper Karen Johnson said " Young people who ask for cigarettes when they have new sneakers on " .. huh?

7 Avalon Aiport doesn't fly to Tasmania

8 Some days I literally don't do anything because everything that needs to be done has been done twice over.

9 Other days it takes 35 minutes just to get to the other side of town, so I can't say "be back in an hour" anymore.

10 Gary Ablett couldn't even stand it. (Traitor)

...the best & absolutely only good thing about Geelong is my Hubby (technically not even from here) & Bastian (definitely from here ) ;)
